What are your hours on Record Store Day?
We open at 8 am on this day only (April 22, 2017). We’ll close at 7 pm unless we still have customers in the shop; if so we may stay open a bit later.
Will there be a line to get in?
Yes, typically there will be 100 or more in line when we open the doors but usually by 8:30 the line to get in is gone. Inside, there will also be lines to check out. We’ll go as fast as we can.
How many of the RSD releases are you carrying?
We’ll have at least one copy of virtually all official releases, including the regional and “first issue” ones, and a selection of the UK releases that we could get. We will not have copies of the CD releases. We will also have dozens of the so-called “unofficial” releases–those not officially certified by RSD but timed by the label to come out on 4/22 (and some of these are very cool). Please note that in many cases, we may have ordered a bunch of copies but only got one or two.
How does it work for Record Store Day?
All #RSD17 releases will be displayed on tables to the right of the counter in the back of the shop. You’ll be able to look through them and select the ones you want. You can also browse the rest of the shop, although we may have to close the basement for all or part of the day to better manage foot traffic in the shop.
What is the policy on holds and pre-orders?
For RSD items, we cannot accept pre-orders or holds, per our contract with Record Store Day management. Everything is first come, first served on RSD. We do limit quantities to one copy per title per customer.
Are there other sales on RSD?
For RSD we honor our regular quantity discount policies–spend $100+ (multiple items required), get 10% off. Spend $250+, get 15% off. Spend $500+, get 20% off. You can add regular used and new items as well as books to RSD items to get to a discount level. Find another store that offers discounts on current RSD items!
Will there be free stuff?
We’ll have limited number of canvass bags packed with free swag. Those will go to the first folks through the checkout. You can register to win free concert tickets from Live Nation and other prizes. You do not need to be present to win–we’ll contact winners after RSD.
State Street Pub has put together a great list of performers who will be outside across the street at 10 Johnson Coffee’s patio. Live music is scheduled to run from 8 am until at least 3 pm, weather permitting.
How about food and drink?
10 Johnson Coffee will be open early in the morning and is right across the street for your convenience. Later in the day you can grab food and drink at several establishments nearby.
